Chitralekha group of publications was started way back in 1950 by Vaju Kotak, a journalistic legend of his times. The group’s flagship magazine – Chitralekha Gujarati, came out with its first issue in 1950. Since then, Chitralekha has gone on to become the favourite weekly of the largest, arguably the most affluent and the most conspicuously consuming community in India, the Gujaratis.

For over 65 years now, Chitralekha has been keeping this community informed about news, events, culture, stories and more…. unfailingly every Friday of the week. It continues to be the largest selling magazine in Mumbai & Gujarat, across periodicity or language, circulating to over 2,40,000 households every week.

Since inception, the group has constantly progressed and has now various titles under its umbrella:

1) Chitralekha Gujarati
2) Chitralekha Marathi
3) Watch World
4) (by the way) – “fine living!” Magazine
5) Custom Publishing

The Group now covers a large gamut of target audiences at varied psychographic and demographic levels, using high quality printing technology, a completely in-house computerized pre-press to printing set-up and excellent quality paper. Chitralekha has created a reputation in both the minds of the readers as well as the advertisers.

Apart from magazines, the group has also diversified into events. The most recognized being Watch World Awards, which is the first ever watch awards in India for brands all across the globe. In addition to that, Chitralekha organizes Investor Awareness programs along with BSE every year and also Musical Concerts with celebrities in the likes of Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghosal and so on.

We are also proud to share, that our 60th anniversary celebrations concluded with the release of a commemorative postal stamp on the group and its founder, by the former President of India Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
